FAO/EBRD Training on Grain Storage, Digitalization and Phytosanitary Treatment

19/10/2026

The Jordan Silos and Supply General Company Hosts Specialized Training on Grain Storage, Operational Digitization, and Fumigation

In collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Jordan Silos and Supply General Company hosted the practical component of a specialized training program at its Al-Jweideh Silo Complex. The program, held in Amman from October 19 to 21, 2026, focused on grain storage, the digitization of operations, and best practices in phytosanitary treatment.

The program featured specialized experts and included two days of theoretical sessions covering topics such as stored-product pests, the fundamentals of grain storage, the use of phosphine gas for fumigation, phytosanitary treatment practices, and the digitization and monitoring of grain storage operations.

The program concluded on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, with a practical training day at the Al-Jweideh Silo Complex. This session included hands-on applications and technical demonstrations on phosphine fumigation procedures—such as calculating required dosages, measuring gas concentrations, utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE), adhering to safety requirements, and executing post-fumigation ventilation. These activities were designed to enhance technical knowledge, facilitate the exchange of expertise, and promote the application of best practices in the field.

Prior to the practical component, the experts conducted a preparatory visit to the complex on Sunday, October 18, 2026, during which a preliminary fumigation trial was carried out to prepare for the practical activities in accordance with the agreed-upon arrangements. The training was conducted in an organized and successful manner, as part of a framework for constructive cooperation and the exchange of technical expertise. It was made possible through the coordination and support of the management and staff at the Al-Jwaideh Silo Complex, with additional contributions from the "Integrated Pest Control Company"—represented by engineers Nidal Al-Daher and Ahmad Al-Daher—who were instrumental in the success of the program’s practical component.

This initiative underscores the commitment of the Jordan Silos and Supply General Company to strengthening collaboration with specialized international institutions and organizations. It reflects a dedication to developing technical capabilities and exchanging knowledge and expertise, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and elevating professional practices in the field of grain storage and handling.
